Hi, I'm a 3rd year PhD student at UC Berkeley in the department of Computer Science. My advisors are Professors Eric Paulos and Bjoern Hartmann, who broadly focus on human-computer interaction (HCI) research. My research focuses on digital fabrication of functional objects. Currently, my dissertation title might read: "Applications and Implications of Digital Fabrication" or "Building Useful Things with Digital Fabrication".
I have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington where I also did research with the UbiComp Lab under Professor Shwetak Patel. My past work includes water activity monitoring, power harvesting, and miniature actuators. Between Seattle (2011) and Berkeley (2013), I worked as a mechnical design engineer at Xerox.
On this site you'll find a mixture of research and hobby projects. You can also read about my personal fight with Ewings Sarcoma on my Facebook page. I'm not shy about cancer, feel free to ask any questions.
This is the first website I've designed from scratch. It's always under construction.
